Remember that the right person will never get tired of you even in the worst times
No, they will! But they’ll work through it, or walk away for a bit (i’m talking minutes to hours) and then come back.
People can love you and still need to get away from you for a bit. And there is nothing toxic about that — it’s good, in fact. It helps remind everyone involved that everyone has boundaries, and everyone needs time to themselves.
It’s okay. Calm down before you talk about something that made you angry while your loved one is sick. Be sure of what made you mad so you can discuss it together.
Love isn’t a one-way street, and it’s something that takes work. Part of that work is knowing when you need to step away.

basically, i think the general rule of thumb is: if someone REALLY wants the blood that’s inside of your body, and they’re like… a vampire, or a dracula, or some sort of mansquito, then that’s probably okay. a dracula and a mansquito are made for removing things like blood and swords from inside your body. that’s basically fine.
if something wants to get at your blood, and they’re, say, some kind of murdersaurus, or maybe a really big frog, that’s where the problems start to arise. a really frog is not made for removing blood, and your blood knows this, which is why it is so vehement about wanting to stay IN your body instead of coming out.
unfortunately this will not deter a really big frog, because a really big frog is full of things like prizes, and value, and quite a lot of hatred, and it would REALLY rather like to replace any and all of those things with your blood, and basically by any means possible.
These words scan with a fantastic degree of confidence considering that together they make no sense at all

Another thing the miraculous movie does better than the show? It treats the viewers like we’re actually smart. It lets things go unsaid- it lets us infer and imply things. It uses visual storytelling.
The show frequently treats its audience like we are dumb and no, it has nothing to do with it being a kid show. There are plenty of shows and cartoons that remain kid-friendly without being condescending to the viewer. Not to bring everything back to that guy, but from his Twitter escapades alone it is easy to see he thinks everyone who watches the show is dumb and he is just a storytelling genius. But this is ultimately super detrimental to the story he’s trying to tell, which of course makes his arrogance all the funnier.
Anyways stan visual motifs and ambiguity 💅

How I Make A Shawl Pattern
So, on my recent post about the green shawl, @dandy-daisylion left some lovely tags:
And since I have some time, I thought sure! I’m going to be using my kittenball shawl as my example for this, as the pattern is already finished.
So, the first thing you want is a concept sketch. For Kittenball, I had just figured out that medibang paint has a radial symmetry brush, and that I could set it to 4 part bilateral symmetry and was dicking around. I got this:
I took that concept into MS paint, turned the grid visible and zoomed wayyyyyy in, and with the pencil tool started marking individual pixels to make the shapes I’d sketched. The shapes that work most easily for this are straight horizontal and vertical lines, and perfect 45 degree angles, and you can see I’d done my sketch with that in mind.
(organic curves are my nemesis. I have so much envy for people who can design in curving shapes)
When I had a pretty good approximation of my sketch, I cut the size of the canvas down to match the design and checked to see how many pixels wide it was. In general, with work like this, one pixel will equal one stitch, so you can take that number and compare it to the width of other shawls you like. For me, the most accurate version to the sketch gave me a very large prospective stitch count, over 850, which was just more than I wanted to deal with. So, I bullshitted a smaller number, and attempted to make a similar-enough one that I liked.
With this method, every black pixel takes the place of a yarnover, and every white pixel is some form of solid stitch. I’m presuming one decrease, immediately adjacent, for each yarnover, so the solid stitches you’d be working with so far are limited to knit/purl, a single decrease, a double decrease, and that’s it.
With large pieces of lace like this, a gauge that’s about twice as many rows to number of stitches to make the same length is pretty standard, so when I’m converting this pixel image to a chart, I assume that I’m only working with pattern rows and have a plain row between each one.
So, the smaller pixel image, zoomed in, looks like this:
From here, I go into whatever pattern writing software I’m using at the moment – from the humble spreadsheet to stitchfiddle.com or some other more specialized option to simple graph paper and pencil – and I place all the yarnovers. (This particular pattern has both hollow circles for yarnovers, and solid circles to represent the peas pattern from orenburg knitting, which continues on the plain row, so I needed it to stand out. I always forget the other half of the peas)
Then, it’s time for decreases. I use paired directional decreases instead of just k2tog everywhere, but that’s entirely up to personal preference, and matters more on garments worked in a stockinette base than one on a garter stitch base, which this one is.
Most of this shawl is based on 45 degree angles, and diagonal lines emphasize that, so that’s how I structured my decreases. I could very easily have gone with much smaller zigzags or even alternating or stacked double-decreases, but honestly diagonal lines are the simplest
And when I mess up, and I do, this is usually where. I’ll forget to put in a decrease somewhere, or add in one too many, or forget that something is supposed to be a double-decrease instead of a single. It happens. The more lace you knit, the more you’ll be able to catch points like these where the designer fucked up and fix it without thinking.
A handy thing about the pixel art is that you can also use it as a progress image! Since you know that each row of pixels is one pattern row, as you cross them off your chart you can mark off that row of the image, so you know how far along you are!

my 6yo piano student: did you KNOW that girls can marry girls and BOYS can marry boys? But they can’t do that romantic dance together when one has a rose in their mouth, because only boys can play the guitar :(
me: 👁️👄👁️well actually, girls can definitely play guitar??
6yo: WAIT REALLY?? :O
it was honestly so fucking adorable because she was SO excited to impart with me the news that gay marriage exists, but then instantly heartbroken that wlw couples were robbed of all romance as they couldn’t possibly do the flamenco together

UGH is is literally so much to ask that I have time and money to learn how to tailor clothes and embroider and knit and make cakes and bake bread and do makeup and hair and nails and do all my own diy projects around the house and
like I know this is probably so hard to make but my brain says I could do that and I need to do that
btw since this I have been beautifully and painfully trying to learn to cook, crochet, sew, paint etc and oh boy am I mediocre at a bunch of things but I’m having fun

My friend takes this one step further and refers completely accurately to his girlfriend Danielle as “My partner, Dan”
Also i hate to say it but for some people, boyfriend/girlfriend feels a bit juvenile, say, if youre over 30, or perhaps youve been with someone for a very long time and are committed life partners but not married for whatever reason. Maybe husband/wife feels a little watered down to you and you want to establish the equal nature of your relationship.
Partner is a wonderful word and it should be normalized.
We actively asked people to use “partner” because then using partner doesn’t out someone as queer, you absolute fucking cabbages.
It isn’t appropriation when people ask you to fucking do it.
